Profile of Chorus
Ableton's Chorus is a two-voice stereo chorus effect included with Live. The plugin includes two delays, a high-pass filter on the first delay, and delay feedback.
Left and right stereo inputs run through two independent delays per channel. Each delay has its own delay time. One or both delays can be modulated by an LFO with an adjustable depth and speed. The output of the two delays is mixed with the original audio to create the plugin's chorus effect. Optional delay feedback, with normal or inverted polarity, routes the summed delay output back to the input for flanging effects.
Left and right stereo channels are modulated 180 degrees out of phase. As the left channel modulates up, the right one modulates down, then vice versa. This creates a wide stereo image.
The first delay for each channel includes a high-pass filter used to focus the effect on chorusing high frequencies. The second delay can be muted, set to a fixed delay time, or modulated along with the first delay.
